Phantom of the Opera, circa 1985<br /> Based the song from Iron Maiden, which was based on the 1925 movie, which is based on a novel from Gaston Leroux (1909). Andrew Lloyd Webber's version came out in 1986. This all being said, the actual drawing is based on Led Zepplin's movie The Song Remains the Same (John Paul Jones dream sequence).

Phantom of the Opera, circa 1985
Based the song from Iron Maiden, which was based on the 1925 movie, which is based on a novel from Gaston Leroux (1909). Andrew Lloyd Webber's version came out in 1986. This all being said, the actual drawing is based on Led Zepplin's movie The Song Remains the Same (John Paul Jones dream sequence).

  • 2 Minutes to Midnight, circa 1986<br /> The title is a reference to an Iron Maiden song, which was about the doomsday clock - which means that I had no idea what the song was about when I drew this image.
  • Solitude, circa 1986<br /> Oh God have mercy on me! What's up with the freaking unicorns! Wish I could say that I was on drugs, or that I had a pair of ovaries at the time. The title is a Black Sabbath reference, however, the guitar/castle is from the cover of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
  • Shockwave, circa 1986<br /> What can I say, I was 16 at the time! My parents were just happy that majority of my drawings were of women!! The title is once again a Black Sabbath reference. Where is this girl's hand's???
  • From Silverpoint to 2H, circa 1986<br /> Reproduction of a Leonardo da Vinci sketch. The title is a reference to the fact that Leonardo used a techniques called "silverpoint" while I used a 2H pencil to skethc out the image.
  • A symptom of the Universe, circa 1985<br /> A reproduction of a Leonardo da Vinci sketch. I made the pony a unicorn. Why I do not know! The title is a Black Sabbath reference.
  • Quintessence, circa 1985<br /> Based on Sandro Botticelli's "Birth of Venus". I have no idea why I picked this title.
  • Cleopatra, Circa 1985<br /> Reproduction of a painting that I saw in a magazine. I just remember this being really difficult to draw because of all the dark tones.
  • Reininger, circa 1985<br /> When I was in middle school, I made a wooden shield with my parents help for a school project. It was very simple. My Dad took a piece of plywood and cut the bottom in order to get the classic shield look. We then painted it metallic grey. My Mom then used red paper to create a cross that we could put on the front. In order to hold the sheild up, we used some of Dad's old belts. It was pretty good, In fact it was one of the few projects that wasn't destroyed by bullies. Years later when I was in high school, I was learning about coates of arms in one of my classes. Because of this, I asked my parents if we had a coat of arms for our family. It was all my parents could do to keep a straight face! So, I decided I would make one. I simply drew the shield we had created years earlier with sword in front of it.

  • Reininger's Studio, circa 1985<br /> This is a drawing of my bedroom when I was in high school. However, I doubt it was actually ever this clean. This is where I created most of the drawings in this gallery. On the bed, is my best friend, and bed hog, Prince.

  • A Wizard's Flight, circa 1985<br /> I was reading a book about "wizards" that indicated that they could fly on gusts of wind. Like a lot of drawings at this time, the main character was based on image/drawing that I had found. I then would make up the background.
  • Armored Saint, circa 1985 <br /> I believe this was originally a drawing of Saint Michael.
  • Cupid's Night Off, circa 1985<br /> One of my early favorites. I think this is based on a cartoon that I saw.
  • Do you believe, circa 1985<br /> At about this time I was reading a lot of books about ghosts.
  • End of Night, circa 1985<br /> No idea what I meant by the title.

  • Howdy, circa 1985<br /> I think the girl was originally in an ad for cigarettes.
