To The Scared Fools, Test and Study of the Human Skull, circa 1987<br /> This is a reproduction of another drawing that I found in a book my High School Teacher gave me. The book has several sketches of cadevers with pieces of flesh and groups of muscles hanging from the body. A lot of these cadavers were sketched "standing up" - being held up by either a meat hook or a rope going through the skull! Initially, I was disturbed, but then I found out that the sketches were from medival times. They were done by artists and physicians looking to learn about human antonomy. Since the church had forbid disections, many of these drawing were down in secret.

This is a reproduction of another drawing that I found in a book my High School Teacher gave me.   • Swing Low, circa 1988<br /> Again, another drawing based on a photograph that I saw in the Star Tribune. I was very proud of the detail in the drawing. However, a lot of people were confused about what was in his mouth. He is playing a saxaphone. For some dumb reason I didn't draw the saxaphone!
  • To Whom the Bell Tows, circa 1987<br /> A reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's self potrait. The title is a Metallica reference. Again, this is photo of the drawing and not a scan. The drawing is in a frame at my Mom's house.

  • Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Circa 1986<br /> Based on the Iron Maiden song of the same name which is based on the Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem of the same name. Now don't you feel smart!
  • Ask Fools the Mob Rules, circa 1986<br /> A drawing about my interest with the 1950s and the mob. While the title is an obvious Black Sabbath reference, the drawing it self was influenced by Iron Maiden artist, Derek Riggs.
  • Lost on the Sargosso Sea, circa 1986<br /> Reproduction of a drawing from a book that I found on the Bermuda Triangle.
  • We need a Hero, circa 1988<br /> Again, this is based on an image that I saw in the Star and Tribune. I believe the story was about a family that lost its home to a fire.
  • Love is Naked, circa 1988<br /> Another drawing based on photograph from the Star and Tribune. Might have been the same article that "We Need a Hero" is based on. If my memory serves me right, a fire ravaged an apartment building. As I was looking at the image I was struck by this woman whose only concern at that moment was her dog. The title is a Dio reference.
  • Revolution Invasion, 1985<br /> Reproduction of a Leonardo da Vinci sketch. I attempted to be true to the original by going so far retracing my initial sketch in red ink. I have no idea about what the title means.
  • No Hero's Bow, circa 1988<br /> Yet another drawing based on a photograph from the Star and Tribune.
  • Completely Stupid both Ways, 1988<br /> Originally an image that I found in the Star and Tribune. I can't remember what this lady was protesting, but I do remember thinking the whole thing was stupid. At this time I was using a technique where I would roughly draw the image and then "smear" the graphite and charcoal with a special pencil that was really nothing more than recycled paper.

  • Flashing Blades, circa 1986 <br /> A little composition issue. There is some "dead" space on the right side. This is a reproduction of a drawing that I had found in the back of a magazine. The title is a reference to an Iron Maiden song.
  • Morning Dew, circa 1988<br /> This is a reproduction of an Alphonse Mucha sketch. I have no idea what I meant by the title.
